Nepal - sits between China to its north and India to its south, a political pawn between the two mega nations that seek to control its economy as well as its citizen’s religious beliefs and practices. India’s prime minister Modi is determined to see Nepal become a Hindu state, while China holds the country to financial ransom through expensive infrastructure project indebtedness.

This small country of 29 and a half million, is land-locked and reliant upon the ports of the two largest populated nations on the globe. With no secondary industries, Nepal offers little prospect of employment for its younger generation, resulting in 750,000 young people leaving the country every year, in search of work to support themselves and their families back in Nepal.

It is within this context that ENGAGE International is committed to raise-up church planters with an appreciation of our God-given mandate as the Church, to take the liberating news of the Gospel of God’s saving grace in Jesus Christ,

to those who have never heard. It is an unfinished task, entrusted to us as Christ’s Church, engaged in His mission, even to the ends of the earth.

The anticipated commencement of our ENGAGE Church-Planter Training Program in Eastern Nepal this May, means that our training will now be in three of the seven  provinces of Nepal. It is our prayerful hope that in time we may have a program available in each of the nation’s provinces. At this stage, only the course offered in Kathmandu is residential. Students from more remote areas of the country are often not in a position to take extended time away from their homes and farm-work.

Would you please pray that God will direct our steps as only He can and as He alone must - and that he will provide the appropriate resources, both financial and qualified personnel, to offer the very best preparation for future Christian pastors and leaders of the Church in Nepal.
